Do you share information you have collected with third parties?
We do not share any information we collect with third parties. We will never share information with third parties unless you specifically consent to this. Please note that we reserve the right to access and disclose individually identifiable information to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests, to operate our systems properly and to protect both ourselves and our users.
Why do you collect information?
We collect different types of information about our users for a few reasons:
  1. To allow users to login to the site in order to submit content, use our API and manage their preferences
  2. To allow us to moderate user submissions
  3. To use anonymous details about user activity to monitor the usage and success of the site
What information do you collect?
  • We collect some information about our users use of the site, such as what pages are visited, through the use of cookies and services such as Google Analytics.
  • We collect some personal information about our users such as email address and password via registration in order to allow users to manage their user account - to allow login to this site.
  • We collect some personal information, such as a user's avatar, site preferences and location, in order that the user may maintain a public profile.
  • Users disclose some data when posting content to the site.
  • The minimum information we need to register a user is an email address and a password. We will ask further questions for different services, including competitions. Unless stated, all registration questions are compulsory.
Should I be afraid of cookies?
  • We don't think so. Cookies have been used on the web since the very earliest browsers.
  • Cookies are small text files hat usually just contain a small piece of data that allows services such as Google Analytics, to track what pages are being visited.
  • In addition, cookies are essential to allow registration and logon to this, and most websites.
  • No personally identifiable data is held in our cookies - they usually just contain hashes and other technical data used by the software that runs this site.
Changes to this Policy
Should we elect to change our privacy policy we will post the changes here. Where the changes are significant, we may also choose to email all our registered users with the new details.
Updating your personal information
We offer a 'My details' page, where you can update your personal information at any time. You can get to this page from most pages on the site - simply click on the 'My details' link at the top of the screen when you are signed in.
How we protect your information
  • UK Data Protection Legislation means we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access.
  • We use software development and business best practices to protect data and we only use high quality web hosting companies: currently we use Rackspace.
